9 Bi: Edelgard

Of course, our Empress Edelgard exhumes big gay energy, and thank God she does. Of course, she is only romanceable if you follow the true Black Eagles Route, and can be romanced whether you’re playing as male or female Byleth. As the only House Leader that is a bi option (more on that later), she holds a special place in all of our gay hearts. Treasure this social order destroying bi queen, she deserves it.

8 Bi: Dorothea

Dorothea is bi because of course she is. Everyone loves her, and she loves everyone. Besides the fact that her supports are very similar between both Byleth genders, she also has some huge subtext going on with another female character (that we’ll get into in a moment here) if you unlock their supports. Dorothea just really seems like someone who simply appreciates romancing and being romanced. And that pre-timeskip hat, come on. Are you serious? It’s like she’s just desperately letting you know that she is available and very, very BI. Take the hint.

7 Probably Is: Manuela

The only thing that Manuela talks about is men. It’s completely relentless. But don’t worry, she probably likes women too. As you go through her support scenes with Dorothea, they both lament with each other about men, over and over. Until the very last scene. They decided that maybe it’s best that they haven’t found the man for them. Instead, they feel as if maybe it might be best that they live together. Alone. Without men. Forever? Okay, so they’re basically getting married? Yeah, alright absolutely 100% you bi queens. They finally figured out what to do when that boy isn’t texting you back. You go and live alone forever with only your best gal pal to share your company with. Fantastic.

6 Bi: Mercedes

Mercedes is another bi queen that we truly don’t deserve. One of the sweetest characters in the entire game, Mercedes can be romanced no matter which gender you choose. The fact that Mercedes wants to live her life in service to the Church makes this same-sex option even cuter than it already is. Say what you want about the messiness that is the Church of Seiros (messy doesn’t even begin to describe it), but they do not care in the slightest about what your sexual orientation is. If you weren’t sure about that, this next entry just proves it.

5 Bi: Rhea

The literal Pope of the Church of Seiros is bi. YES. Sure, Three Houses certainly isn’t the best on the representation side of things, but this was an absolutely essential bi character and they sure did deliver. Romancing Rhea is a tough thing to do no matter which gender you are, as you can’t just have tea parties with her every six seconds. But, it certainly is something that can be done. Also, this is the only way to save her from… you know, death in certain routes. So, basically Rhea said marry me or I’ll die. What a power move.

4 Probably Is: Claude

Anyone who tries to tell you that Claude isn’t a bi icon that we were robbed of is absolutely homophobic and you need to cut them out of your lives. No matter which gender you are, this man spends half the game flirting with and winking at you, and even pulls you out on the dancefloor during a cutscene, regardless of your gender. But nope, he’s simply as straight as they come. The fact that he isn’t a same-sex option is nothing less than criminal. If we get any more same-sex options in the DLC, it absolutely must be Claude.

3 Bi: Sothis

…Alright. So, Intelligent Systems, let’s talk for just a minute. You created this huge cast of characters to choose from for romancing, and you made a very select few bi. You chose the ancient goddess that only exists inside of your head as one of the bi characters? While Rhea was the one we needed… Sothis is the one that straight players didn’t even need. Regardless of what gender you choose to romance Sothis as, doing it at all is weird. Choosing Sothis as your soulmate as a bi character almost seems like a waste, but if you feel that this is what you need…

2 Bi: Linhardt

The only male same-sex S-Support (that isn’t platonic [yeah those exist]) in Three Houses is Linhardt. This sleepy boy literally wants to do no work at all. Instead, he wants everyone to be able to just nap the day away and do what makes them happy. Big gay energy. In his S-Support scene, you find out that he’d like to nap the day away with you, regardless of your gender. Well, that’s just adorable. While it is unfortunate that Linhardt is the only male same-sex S-Support option, there certainly could have been worse choices.

1 Probably Is: Sylvain

Sylvain not being bi is the one thing that makes Three Houses literally unplayable. Flayn says it herself, both women and men have been led astray by Sylvain’s flirtatious actions. He’s flirted with scarecrows! Sylvain is not a womanizer, he is a humanizer. His only goal in life is to seduce anything that walks, and that includes the male species. However, his S-Support scene shows that he is willing to be faithful to you above all else. He should certainly be able to do that with a man as well as a woman. Such a shame that we can’t marry this little deviant as male Byleth.
