This focus on the franchise’s legacy was outlined in Fire Emblem Engage’s announcement trailer, where the story notes that they summoned these past heroes from other worlds to help them defeat the threat of the Fell Dragon. It also includes an artistic diorama of several heroes across the franchise. The artistic depictions of these past heroes will be available in a special pre-order bonus for the game that is exclusive to GameStop.

In a tweet from the official GameStop account, it reveals that any pre-orders or purchases of Fire Emblem Engage through the storefront will contain a free Tarot Card Deck. This Tarot card deck will contain 12 cards, which depicts both the upright and upside down versions of their corresponding motifs assigned to certain heroes. Video games assigning Tarot motifs to their characters is always interesting, which can be seen with Tarot decks for games like Persona, Cyberpunk 2077, and Skyrim just to name a few.
Of the legacy Fire Emblem characters that can be currently seen in the image, it includes Marth, Leif, Byleth, and Ike. Players can even see what Marth looks like when his Tarot card is upside-down, where he is holding his head while it is nighttime and has a moon motif on it. The rest of the cards are likely to follow this same depiction and pattern. Considering that there will be 12 cards in total, fans should expect all main returning lords like Lyn, Corrin, and Micaiah to be included in this deck.
Some fans have raised concerns over this pre-order bonus being announced a month or so away from release, especially considering that there is also Fire Emblem Engage’s Divine Edition, which contains a bunch of other physical goodies such as art cards, an artbook and a Steelbook for the game. Fans are questioning if Divine Edition pre-purchases through Gamestop will contain this Tarot Deck as well, though the company has yet to clarify.
Fire Emblem Engage is coming to Nintendo Switch on January 20, 2023.
