While some activities are just mini-games to keep the player entertained, others have actual functions which can not only help in future chapters but also help strengthen the bonds between units and therefore give more dialogue between the characters. Here are only a few things that players can get stuck into around the Somniel instead of halting the domination of the Fell Dragon.

10 Go For A Wyvern Ride

An activity that players can unlock later in the game, this mini-game first requires the player to have not only obtained the unit Ivy but also increased her to the advanced class of Linwurm. Once these steps have been done players can finally take to the skies to shoot at targets and beat their high scores.

Occasionally after completing the Wyvern Riding mini-game, the player can be rewarded with items that can be used in battle. By progressing further in the story more difficulties, as well as better prizes, can be unlocked.

9 Take On A Trial

Players looking for a further challenge need to explore no further than the outskirts of the Somniel where the Tower of Trials can be found. By taking on the Tempest Trial players must attempt to take on several maps in a row to unlock special rewards.

Fire Emblem Engage also has various multiplayer activities such as the Relay Trials where players must team up and take turns battling enemies. There are even Outrealm Trials where players take on other players’ armies on custom maps that they themselves have made.

8 Scan An Amiibo At The Gazebo

Fans of Nintendo who own the figures known as Amiibos can also put them to use while playing Fire Emblem Engage. While visiting the Amiibo Gaze fans of the franchise that may have purchased the Marth Amiibo can use it once more to unlock other items and rewards.

Many of the unlocked items are new outfits that players can dress their units in while relaxing around the Somniel. Other rewards are actual items that can be used in battle such as a simple elixir for health or a new weapon.

7 Relax With Some Fishing

What role-playing title is complete without at least one fishing mini-game for players to waste countless hours completing? Once unlocking Diamant, Alear will finally be able to stand at the small pond on the island and take three chances to catch themselves a meal.

Different hours of the day affect what fish can be caught as well as unlocking other fishing rods as the game progresses. These fish can come in handy when attempting to cook different meals at the cafe in Somniel as well as being another way to pass the time outside of battle.

6 Play With Sommie

Sommie is the adorable dog-like guardian that lives on the floating island with Alear. While at first, this may just look to be a pet that players can stroke, dress up or feed all their unwanted ingredients to, Sommie is actually a crucial character in Fire Emblem Engage.

By maxing its affection bar with Alear through regularly tending to its needs, Sommie can help when completing the various activities around the island as it becomes especially handy when attempting the harder difficulties of certain tasks.

5 Get In Some Strength Training

As one of the earliest mini-games players will unlock, Strength Training with Alfred can have one of the best boosts to a player’s experience possible. Before taking part in a chapter players should complete one of the three workouts with Alfred to boost one of Alear’s stats by two.

Although only a small buff, in some situations this can be the difference between killing a foe or leaving them on low health where the player may be in danger. Like the other activities, players can unlock new difficulties for the training and therefore master their workout.

4 Polish Rings

The Emblem Rings are a large part of the gameplay involved in Fire Emblem Engage, it is important that units that have these rings equipped have strong bonds with them. While it’s easier to strengthen this bond by using them in battle there are also ways to do this in the Somniel.

Polishing the rings that units put on their fingers to summon these Emblem Heroes can help spruce up the ring that has gotten dirty if being used a lot. It also adds a little extra bond between the Emblem character and the unit chosen to polish the ring.

3 Buy Some New Weapons Or Improve Gear

Advancing the story will unlock shops for the player to visit while spending time around their resting place. While stands such as the armory and item shop sell the obvious weapons, staffs, and seals needed to improve units, other stalls such as the boutique allow the player to customize how their units appear around the Somniel.

Most important is the Smithy which players will often be visiting in the hope to better improve the weapons they already have equipped on units to improve their damage through the materials they have collected.

2 Train In The Arena

Another great way to spend time while in the main hub of the game is by allowing units to fight one another in the Arena. Some characters may need an extra boost to their experience, instead of taking them into a chapter a player can allow them to fight three times in the arena. If they win the battle they will get a substantial amount f experience, with only a bit earned if they lose.

Besides this, units may also strengthen their support with another unit depending on whom they face in the arena. The same can also be done with units fighting against Emblem Rings to improve their bond with them also.

1 Order A Meal

After taking part in so many tiring activities a player may wish to just sit down with some allies for a nice meal. When visiting the Somniel after a battle the player may approach the cafe and ask whoever is currently on cooking duty to make them a meal.

The player then may decide on two units to sit down and eat with them as well as the dish that is going to be served. Each dish can give the player and their units a buff to their stats as well as increase the support between all three of them.
