11 Rapier

The Rapier, despite its low base might and durability, is a fantastic weapon for any sword wielder, granting advantage against armored units and mounted units.

Since the vast majority of lance wielding foes are mounted units, such as cavaliers, paladins, dark knights, or holy knights, this weapon effectively nullifies their usual effectiveness against sword wielders. Upgrading this weapon at the blacksmith is a solid plan for empowering any sword wielding unit.

10 Levin Sword

The Levin Sword is an excellent choice for players wishing to use unconventional characters in sword classes. This is because it allows them to leverage the magic stat instead of the strength stat when performing attacks.

The Levin Sword is a C-rank weapon with 40 might and 90 durability that causes lightning of heavy attacks, making it very useful for dealing with groups and inflicting the shocked status effect.

9 Wo Dao

The Wo Dao is a B-tier sword with reasonably good stats and a very strong critical hit boosting effect. This means that it can be wielded to great effect by characters with high dexterity, like Ashe and Felix, to produce critical hits at a high rate for massive damage.

8 Sword of Zoltan

The third best non-relic sword in the entire game, the Sword of Zoltan, has fantastic base stats and is readily available in the latter half of all three routes. This makes it an excellent choice for any sword wielding unit. The Sword of Zoltan can be acquired as an S-rank reward from a mission in the final chapters of Scarlet Blaze and Golden Wildfire, and during Chapter 14 of Azure Gleam.

7 Mercurius

The second best non-relic sword is a returning weapon from previous Fire Emblem games. Mercurius is an excellent weapon, boasting 120 might and 130 durability pre-upgrading. It’s a solid sword with excellently balanced stats that is most easily found disguised as a broken A-rank sword. It must be repaired by the blacksmith to achieve its true power.

6 Knight Captain’s Sword

A tremendous weapon and the best non-relic sword in the game, this blade can only be acquired on the true ending path for each of the routes. Recruit Byleth, and they show up equipped with this sword by default. It has skills to boost the effectiveness of warrior specials and awakenings, greatly enhancing the strength of the wielder when using either of them.

5 Ridill

The sword wielded by Thales, Ridill is a highly useful sword for NG+, which makes use of the wielder’s magic stat. In the hands of high magic characters like Hubert, Lysithia, or Annette, it really shines. This weapon can be purchased for renown after completing any one route of the game.

4 Athame

Another excellent NG+ weapon, the Athame is a critical boosting dagger wielded by Kronya. Easily obtainable in NG+, this weapon excels in the hands of characters with high dexterity like Ashe, Shamir, and Yuri. This weapon can be purchased for renown after completing any one route of the game.

3 Blutgang

Blutgang is an excellent weapon for characters with high magic stats when using them in sword wielding classes. It possesses the witstrike ability, replacing the user’s strength stat with the magic stat when attacking with it. It also improves the strength of spells, making it perfect for the Dancer and Mortal Savant classes. The unique combat art “Beast Fang” heals the user and is effective against cavalry, and its tremendous power means it can often instantly kill cavalry class commanders, though the wielder must have the crest of the beast to unleash this art.

It is obtained by achieving an S-Rank on chapter 16 of Golden Wildfire. Reaching chapter 16 requires players to meet the requirements for the true ending by recruiting Byleth and Jeralt.

2 Thunderbrand

Thunderbrand is a relic of Charon wielded by Catherine, a Knight of Seiros. It has fantastic stats and a powerful ability when awakened that halves the cooldown time of combat arts, allowing characters like Catherine and Lysithia to wield it to great effect while unleashing hell via their powerful combat arts. The Weapon’s unique combat art is a powerful lightning-imbued dash attack that deals extra damage to cavalry units, providing an excellent means of breaking through tough lance wielding foes.

Thunderbrand can be obtained by completing chapter 9 of Azure Gleam. Catherine joins the team with Thunderbrand already equipped. It can also be obtained in chapter 9 of Golden Wildfire after defeating Catherine.

1 Sublime Creator Sword / Dark Creator Sword

Byleth’s signature weapon from Fire Emblem: Three Houses, the Sublime Creator Sword is an exceptional weapon with fantastic stats once its true power is unlocked. It bears a unique skill that causes every attack to hit twice, effectively doubling the damage dealt to foes. The skill only works in the hands of Byleth or Sothis, who can also use the sword’s unique combat art “Sublime Heaven” to devastate foes with the blade’s whip form.

Similarly, the dark replica of the blade, the “Dark Creator Sword” grants the same stats and unique skill when equipped, but lacks the combat art. Unlike the Sublime Creator Sword, the Dark Creator Sword may be wielded by any character.
