Even though Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes is different, it’s also very similar to games of the past. If you’ve played one Musou game then you’ll know what to expect. Maps will be filled with hundreds of enemies and players will have to hack and slash their way through them all. As much as this game tries to outdo its predecessors, there are still a few things holding it back. Hopefully, these issues can be solved in future patches.

8 Add Free Mode

Most of the main Musou games are split into two main modes. There is the campaign that goes through the story which sometimes branches off into several directions. Then there is usually some sort of free mode. This option allows players to freely play a map after they unlock it.

This is a great way to level up characters, test characters out, or a good excuse to replay a level with a co-op partner this time. There is only one mode in Three Hopes, the campaign, and it’s a shame. It would be nice to get some sort of extra mode in there.

7 Add Online Multiplayer

As fun as co-op can be with one friend, there are limitations to multiplayer. Three Hopes only supports two-player co-op even though most maps allow four hero characters on them. Expanding the local multiplayer to four players would be great.

It would be even better if this game supported online multiplayer in any capacity. Maybe two-player co-op can be reserved for local play while four-player co-op is reserved for online play.

6 Training Multiple Heroes At Once

There are a lot of shops and things to do while in the main camp. Some of these NPCs will allow players to group up activities such as buying multiple items. The academy allows players to teach multiple units the same tactic for use in battle.

However, not every NPC allows easy solutions to save time. For example, players cannot level up multiple characters at once with the training instructor. Being able to do that alone would save a lot of hassle.

5 How Stats Increase

Leveling up in this epic RPG series has always been a hassle in more ways than one. Leveling up will boost stats just like in most RPGs. HP, attack power, defensive capabilities, and so much more will go through changes. The problem with this game, and series overall, is the randomization.

Sometimes only two stats will increase in value. It’s such an in-universe cruel joke that there is dialogue to accompany terrible stat increases for all characters. It may be funny the first time but the leveling-up statistics need to get tweaked in favor of the player.

4 Upgrading Classes

One of the unique aspects of Three Hopes that continued from its mainline predecessors is its class system. Most characters start with generic jobs and then branch off from there. There are three levels of classes including Intermediate, Advanced, and Master.

Advanced classes open up a wealth of possibilities, but the academy cannot be opened until chapter seven which is about halfway through the game. This seems too late for several reasons, so, it would be nice if Advanced classes were unlocked sooner, like in chapter four. Also, these crests should not be limited by vendors.

3 Open Up Maps More

There are a couple of graphical and logistical issues that could use some tweaking too. A lot of the maps are confusingly cut off from players accessing them. In most maps where they only allow four characters, that is no problem.

However, on maps where players can control eight players on the tactical map, it can be a nightmare. The problem comes in figuring out where to station heroes. Will this pathway unlock once an enemy is defeated, or will it remain closed? The unknown might be the point of the game, but it can be frustrating too. A clearer sense of the goals would be appreciated on top of opening up maps more.

2 Expand The Save Files

Saving can be one of the biggest issues facing giant RPGs like Three Hopes. The game features eight save slots which are more than the average of three slots. That can be detrimental but getting one save slot, like in the Pokemon games, is even worse.

Because Three Hopes has three branching paths, it doesn’t make sense to limit the save slots to just eight. Doubling that would be amazing and anything beyond that would be legendary.

1 Fast-Forwarding Features

The story is one of this game’s best features even though it can be slow at times. It’s good but players don’t have to watch cutscenes if they don’t want to thanks to the skip button. It would be great if a fast-forward button could get added too.

This would allow players to speed through conversations but not pass them up completely. It would also be great to skip death scenes and introductions to new characters when they appear on the map.
