And while each member plays a vital role in the group, some have proven to be far superior to others in strength and intelligence. Among the characters, who is the one true powerhouse of the Tokyo Empire?
8 Viktor Licht – Haijima Industries Representative

Genius-level Intellect Grand Chemist
As many fans already know, Viktor Licht is one of the few members of the Fire Force team that lacks any Ignition Ability (which would make him an easy target if he faced Izuku Midoriya from My Hero Academia). Fortunately, his mad scientist persona makes up for his lack of strength, since he provides the team with ample information on how to fight Infernals and other larger entities.
On top of that, Licht can quickly devise an escape plan thanks to his ability to think fast on the spot. Unfortunately, since he possesses no strength-related abilities, he’s ranked dead last in the Fire Force team.
7 Iris – Nun From The Holy Sol Temple

Protective Aura Medical Knowledge Limited Pyrokinetic Abilities
Iris is the youngest and shortest member of the Fire Force squad, and has proven to be a key team member. She has repeatedly healed members from fire and bullet wounds, and she does so without hesitation. Additionally, she’s able to adapt to any situation, from distracting Infernals or Demons during battle to fighting off trained assassins.

After the Stone Pillar emerged, Iris gained Pyrokinetic abilities, but hasn’t fully grasped its power. During the battle with Dragon and Raffles, she created a protective aura for herself and the other Fire Force members that protected them from fire, which may explain why she survived the fire at the orphanage.
6 Akitaru Obi – Firefighter From The Fire Defense Agency

Super Strength Master Strategist
Despite not having an Ignition ability, Akitaru Obi is the team’s strongest member, physically speaking. He can easily rip train tracks, twist steel with his bare hands, and frequently chokes Infernals even if they burn him. Moreover, Obi has proven time again and again that he can calm the team during tense situations.
While some fans have speculated that Obi has Hysterical Strength (which is a Pyrokinetic ability), nothing was ever mentioned in the series. Perhaps fans will know the truth in the rumored Atsushi Ohkubo series coming in the near future. So, even if he has super strength, he is limited at times while facing Infernals, which is why he isn’t higher on the list.
5 Takehisa Hinawa – Soldier In The Tokyo Army

Even though Takehisa Hinawa is serious and intelligent in his demeanor, he sometimes takes extreme measures to achieve victory, which causes serious issues for the team members (at one point, the Tokyo Empire was after him and his company after not following orders). Nonetheless, Hinawa is a powerful squad member who likes to fight from a distance with his sniper rifle and special Fire Extinguishing Bullets.

In addition to his marksman ability, Hinawa can control the force of ignition inside the bullets, which allows him to control the bullet’s impact radius. On top of that, his Pyrokinesis ability allows him to control the trajectory of bullets, meaning he can shoot his target from any angle without missing.
4 Maki Oze – Fire Officer In The Tokyo Army

Expert In Hand-to-Hand Combat Pyrokinetic
Despite being the hopeless romantic of the Fire Force squad, Maki Oze can fight multiple opponents simultaneously without breaking a sweat. And with her Second Generation Pyrokintetic skills, Oze can generate giant fireballs, which she can use to deflect incoming attacks.
Rhroughout the series (and manga), Oze has proved her worth by fighting large foes like Flail with relative ease. Undoubtedly, Maki Oze’s character arc, as with every other member, is a fascinating one, which is why some fans have wanted to include Fire Force in The Big Three names of manga.
3 Arthur Boyle – The Fire Soldier

Lighting Fast Reflexes Immensely Durable Pyrokinesis
One of the few members of the Fire Force squad that has Third Generation abilities, Arthur has shown fans that he’s a force to be reckoned with. He possesses lightning-fast reflexes that have proven even to dodge (not completely) the powerful Severed Universe attack from Sho Kusakabe.

On top of that, he can conjure a Plasma Sword with his Pyrokinesis capable of slicing Beasts and other Demons in half. Unfortunately, Arthur struggles in controlling his Ignition Ability, which is why he isn’t the strongest Fire Force member.
2 Shinra Kusakabe – The Devil’s Footprints

Enhanced Eyesight Pyrokinesis Hysterical Strength
Shinra is one of the few humans in the Tokyo Empire with a Fourth Generation Ignition Ability, which grants him the ability to ignite, control, and use flames from his feet (which is why his alias is The Devil’s Footprints). And due to his Fourth Generation abilities, he can withstand nearly any attack, even those that would obliterate other Fire Force members.

Shinra is also the fastest member of the squad, allowing him to fly once he gains enough speed, which is quite similar to what a Tokyo Ghoul character can do. But even though Shinra is the Fire Force’s main protagonist, he isn’t the strongest, since there’s still one last member that can go toe to toe with Shinra.
1 Joker
Notable Skills:
Super Speed Pyrokinetic Trained Assassin
Joker is hands down the strongest member of the Fire Force squad. He can easily dodge every move that Shinra (the fastest member of the squad and Fourth Generation Pyrokinetic) throws at him. On top of that, no one knows what generation Pyrokinetic he is, which means he can potentially be higher than Fourth Generation.
Joker specializes in creating card-shaped projectiles that have enough force to pulverize even the largest of Infernals. And despite always stating that he has a limit to his power, Joker has repeatedly shown that he can go well beyond those limits without breaking a sweat.
