Between Dream Scenario and the upcoming Cage Dracula film, the actor isn’t slowing down anytime soon, which certainly aligns with his comments expressing his commitment to acting and even interest in wanting to play a Batman villain. Among these upcoming films, audiences received a sneak peek at the actor in his new role in Dream Scenario, which is sure to excite fans of Cage, Aster, and A24 studios.

The first look at Cage in Dream Scenario, written and directed by Kristoffer Borgli, was released by the filmmaker on Instagram. It is a black-and-white photo of the director on set with Cage, who plays a Professor that becomes a celebrity overnight after he somehow appears in everyone’s dreams. The engagement seems unanimous in the intriguing aspect of the upcoming film’s story, which is described as an American comedy starring Michael Cera, Julianne Nicholson, and Tim Meadows. Director Borgli saw his first feature film play at Cannes in 2021, Sick of Myself, a satire about a toxic relationship. If the director’s previous work and the talent behind the film like Aster is any indication of Dream Scenario, then audiences can expect another unique take on genre filmmaking from A24.

The image shows Cage sporting a bald head, beard, and glasses, paired with apparel that reflects what one could expect from an older-looking Professor. Dream Scenario may play with black and white, but it is unknown if the image shared is any sign of the color palette that audiences can expect. Not much else can be speculated, but surely fans are hoping for a classic Cage moment in this film, perhaps not as extreme as the chainsaw duel from Mandy, but something that would be unique to this film in particular.

The actor is also outspoken about what roles he wants to play in the future. One of these roles consists of Egghead, a Batman villain that Cage was vocal about. Although that tone may not have fit under the vision of Matt Reeves, now that James Gunn is running the DCU with a 10-year plan, that opportunity may present itself.

Dream Scenario is in post-production at A24.
