SPLITS TO KNOW

  • Kyle Seager is just 3-for-33 (.091) with 15 Ks lifetime against C.J. Wilson. However, teammate Mike Zunino is coming off a red-hot spring and is 4-for-10 with a homer and double against the Angels lefty.

- Aaron Hil is 14-for-30 (.467) with two HRs lifetime against Ryan Vogelsong.

  • The Cardinals’ Matt Holliday and Matt Carpenter are a combined 0-for-23 against Jake Arrieta. (Update: The Cardinals-Cubs game for Tuesday has been postponed because of rain.)

 - Christian Yelich hasn’t been bothered by the lefty/lefty matchup against Alex Wood. He’s 8-for-19 (.421) in his young career against the Braves southpaw. Teammate Martin Prado hit .366 with a 979 OPS against left-handers last season and could be a cheap play against Wood. Meanwhile, Giancarlo Stanton is just 2-for-16 (.125) in his career against Wood and might not be worth the steep DFS price tag.

 - Freddie Freeman is 9-for-15 (.600) with three doubles in his career against Mat Latos; Chris Johnson is 8-for-20 (.400) against the big right-hander.

 - Carl Crawford is 7-for-13 (.538) with two doubles against Tyson Ross.

 - Justin Upton is 7-for-14 (.500) with two doubles and a homer against Zack Greinke.

CALL TO THE ‘PEN

The Mets called on Jerry Blevins and Buddy Carlyle in the ninth inning yesterday to finish off a 3-1 win over Washington. Closer Jenrry Mejia “felt tightness” in his elbow while warming up for the ninth, and presumed next-in-line Jeurys Familia had already worked a perfect eighth. With Mejia traveling back to New York to undergo an MRI, chances are Familia could wind up closing for the foreseeable future. … Chris Hatcher earned a save for the Dodgers with a perfect ninth inning against San Diego. Joel Peralta was used in the top of the 8th inning in a tie game, and J.P. Howell wasn’t used at all despite two lefties batting in the ninth (one was a pinch-hitter). The Dodgers have made no official announcements and could easily use Peralta, Howell or someone else in a save situation in their next game, but it seems clear that Hatcher is the frontrunner.
