Allowing two players to game together across 10 cooperative maps, Battlefield 3’s third facet of FPS entertainment rounds out the picture of a very worthy Call of Duty competitor. Unfortunately, two players and ten maps was all the details players could get out of the team at DICE. If the multiplayer is any indication of what is in store for cooperative participants, there might be some opportunity for customization dependent on what class the player selects....

Luckily, Call of Duty (2014) developer Sledgehammer Games has learned from last year’s unveiling and they have come out swinging with the first official, in-game image from their franchise entry. The image was actually revealed as part of a GDC 2014 panel called Quest for Reality: Maximizing the Relationship Between Creative and Production, and can be seen (via IGN) in full below. Right off the bat, readers will notice that the detail featured in the screenshot is unlike anything seen in a Call of Duty game thus far....

Featured in this month’s EDGE magazine, From Software has blown the lid off their upcoming action RPG. As we previously reported, series creator Hidetaka Miyazaki will not be as involved with the sequel, this time acting as a supervisor. His main goal is to have Dark Souls 2 release in a timely manner. He has also advocated for the return to dedicated servers, which were present in Demon’s Souls but not Dark Souls....

As with past Modern Warfare 2 map packs, the first Modern Warfare 3 DLC is rumored to feature five maps. The maps are allegedly titled “Morning Wood,” “Concrete,” “Park,” “Italy,” and “Overwatch.” Most map packs for MW2 contained three new maps and two remakes from the first Modern Wafare. Following the tradition, “Overwatch” is the name of a map from Modern Warfare 2. The map names come from a series of screenshots posted at ModernPrestige, since removed – though Kotaku managed to salvage one....

The university’s board of trustees announced Monday that Rebecca M. Blank would become the institution’s 17th president upon taking office in Summer 2022. Blank is currently the chancellor of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, a position that she has held since 2013. “I am honored and delighted to accept the job as Northwestern’s next president,” said Blank in a statement. “Northwestern is a school that I have known and admired for years....

The two titles that are now available are the Xbox One release of Planet Alpha and the original Xbox release of Conker: Live & Reloaded. Planet Alpha will be available for Xbox Live Gold subscribers to download from now through the end of July. Sid Meier’s Civilization takes its name from the lead designer of the franchise, Sid Meier. He would go on to not only design the Civilization series but also games in other genres like Sid Meier’s Pirates!, Sid Meier’s Alpha Centauri, and Sid Meier’s Colonization. The Sid Meier name used to be plastered on all sorts of different titles, but in recent years Firaxis Games has chosen to only utilize it on the Civilization series....
